Armed men storm into bank in Sharjah and steal Dh500,000

Sharjah: Two armed men stormed into Mashreq Bank on Tuesday afternoon and stole Dh500,000.

A senior official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News that the bank was robbed around 2pm.

The suspects armed with knives and hammers took employees and clients hostage. The official said the employees were unable to activate the alarm, which is directly linked to the Operations Control Room at Sharjah Police, because of all the chaos and panic.

The suspects then grabbed Dh500,000 and fled in a getaway vehicle that was waiting for them outside the bank.

In a press statement, Gavin Sanderson, Head of Distribution at Mashreq Bank, said: “Mashreq confirms there was an incident at the Al Khan branch on Tuesday, June 16, 2pm. During the incident, in which nobody was injured or harmed, two armed men entered the branch, and the incident was over within two minutes. The police were at the scene immediately.”

قال مسؤول في شرطة الشارقة للجلف نيوز انه تم سرقة بنك المشرق الواقع في منطقة الخان الساعة 2
وهم يحملون اسلحة وسكاكين وهجموا على البنك وتم حصر رهائن في الداخل ولم يستطيع احد الاتصال بالشرطة بسبب حالة الذعر والخوف.
وتم سرقة Dh500 ، 000 الف درهم وهرب اللصوص في سيارة كانت تنتظرهم خارج البنك.
