Dubai: A female college student has denied consuming hashish after being caught during a police raid at a birthday party in a Dubai villa, a court heard on Tuesday.

An anti-narcotics police captain said the 24-year-old Emirati was caught among a group of 10 women and 18 men dancing, drinking and consuming drugs.

“No I didn’t take drugs… I am innocent,” she told the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.

She was charged with consuming hashish and an active component of the drug was found in her urine.

The captain said in his statement to the Public Prosecution: “An informant tipped off the anti-narcotics police that a suspect, named S.A., had rented a villa which he used, along with his friends to consume drugs. The informant tipped us off that S.A. had planned to throw a bash during which they would consume drugs.”

The witness alleged that all those who were in the villa were behaving abnormally and some of them were drinking liquor while others were dancing.

The captain said S.A. denied possessing drugs but confessed to drinking alcohol.
