We’ve got this Wireless USB adapter for sale. It is compatible with all Windows operating systems from 98SE up through Vista. It also works with Linux (kernel 2.6.6 and later) as well as Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4! This unit is new and has not been used, but we have tested this model adapter on a Macintosh computer and can verify it is 100% compatible (with OS 10.3 or 10.4 only). This comes with 2 CDs. One CD is the original manufacturers CD which is in the retail box and has the Windows drivers only. The second is a CD-R disc that we created which contains the Macintosh setup files as well as an instructional for installation. Basically to install on any G3, G4, or G5 Mac all you need to do is go to the folder on the disc for your version of Mac OS (this is compatible with OS 10.3 and 10.4) and run the installation program. Then reboot as per the instructions and when the computer boots back up, open the installation document, connect the device to your Mac, and then follow the steps to initialize the device on your computer inside the System Preferences menu. This works on any G3, G4, or G5 with OSX versions 10.3 or 10.4 only. We do not know if it will work with any other type of Mac or Mac OS platform. Leopard drivers are not yet available for this product. This does work with Windows as well (Windows 98SE and later, including Vista) and also Linux. We are not able to provide detailed support for Linux installation/use though.

The best part about this adapter is it has an SMA antenna connector, so you can upgrade the antenna if you need to boost your range. It is new in retail box and comes with a 2 dBi gain antenna which will give it a good range. If you would like more range, take a look in our eBay store as we do sell this same product bundled with a higher gain antenna. Indoors and in most places like cafes or airports we beleive the average user will experience ranges between 125-300 feet of range using the included 2 dBi gain antenna. I know this is a wide margin, but range can be impacted by a number of factors not related to the adapter, primarily the strength and quality of the access point to which you are trying to connect. This is an 802.11g device which means it is better than the older Airport wireless adapters for Mac which were 802.11b because this can connect to signals at speeds up to 54 mbps, which is almost 5 times faster than 802.11b speeds of 11 mbps. Please note that the adapter does not have a built-in antenna, so you must have an antenna connected in order to use the device.

This item is new but as pictured and comes in retail box. Also included, as noted above, will be the OEM CD for Windows installations, and a CD-R we created with the Mac drivers. The manufacturer does not distribute these with Mac drivers so we include this CD-R to make it easy for you, the customer, instead of just saying that you can search the Internet for the drivers.
